On behalf of the board we invite you cordially to attend the annual General Assembly of our Society, which will take place on Friday, 20 October 2023 from 6:15pm to 7:30pm at the Basler Afrika Bibliographien (Klosterberg 23, CH-4051 Basel). The General Assembly is held in connection with the conference “Conjunctions of Archives and Public Spheres: Embodied Histories, Memory, and Multi-Media Archives in and from Africa” on 19 & 20 October 2023, organized by the Centre for African Studies Basel and the Basler Afrika Bibliographien in cooperation with the Swiss Society for African Studies (program attached).

The General Assembly is preceded by the panel «Decolonizing African Heritage» organized by the Museums Association of Namibia and the Bernisches Historisches Museum from 3:30pm to 5.30pm. The screening of the film «Under the Hanging Tree» will conclude the evening. The director Perivi Katjavivi (University of Namibia) will be present on site.
