Roundtable "D'où tu causes?" (27.03.2023)

27.04.2023, 19:30

In the context of a public panel discussion, the question of which voices are heard to overcome discourses of rupture will be discussed. The focus is on the connections between Europeans, Africans and Afropean poeple.

The roundtable "D'où tu causes?" ("Where are you speaking from?") will be held in collaboration with the Center for African Studies at the University of Lausanne and the Swiss Society for African Studies. The denunciation of the perpetuation of a structural system of domination towards racialized or marginalized population groups in Western societies is the basis of different types of discourse. The most militant, based on intersectional criteria, contest the possibility of "cultural participation", involving cooperation and collaboration. This polarization of identities has social, political and cultural consequences. In fact, it questions the status of discourses and initiatives, since their legitimacy is evaluated according to the origin of their enunciator.
