The SSG/SSL supports the organization of linguistic conferences and workshops by forwarding relevant applications for funding to the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW/ASSH). The board of the SSG/SSL evaluates all applications and reserves the right to reject applications that do not answer the purpose of the association or are not in line with the requirements.
As of December 15, 2021, the SAGW/ASSH has installed a new procedure for the online submission of applications on the MySAGW platform. Further information on this new procedure can be found here. All SSL members interested in submitting an application via the Swiss Society for Linguistics for 2025 are requested to contact the president of the SSL, Sara Greco, by February 12, 2024, to open a request on the MySAGW platform.
Once the SSL President has opened a request for a SSL member on the MySAGW platform, it is the member's responsibility to fill in the online form in all of its details, and paying attention to the conditions specified by SAGW/ASSH (the document with the conditions can be found on the platform and is visible once the request has been opened). However, the final submission of the request is the SSL President's task; therefore, members are asked NOT to click on "submit" at the end of the process but to inform the President when the request is ready to be submitted. The SSL reserves the right not to submit incomplete applications.
Please note that financial support for conferences can only be used to compensate deficits (the SAGW/ASSH policies only allow to reimburse deficits). The deficit that will be compensated by SAGW/ASSH if the application is accepted can amount to maximum 50% of the total conference budget.
Deadlines
Please observe that applications can only be submitted for events that will take place in the following year. The upcoming deadlines are as follows:
- Applications for events in the year 2025 have to be approved by the SSL by: February 20, 2024
- Applications for events in the year 2026 have to be approved by the SSL by: February 17, 2025 (to be confirmed in due time)
Specific deadlines for the next years will be announced in due time. Note that every year we will have a deadline around February, which concerns conferences to be organized during the next academic year; the final answer about your request will be available in the following fall.
