The SAA consists of the following bodies:
- The General Assembly is the highest body of the society. It convenes the SAA members once a year.
- The Board consists of at least seven members, among whom the president is elected.
In addition to these bodies, the Society has eight commissions. These are:
- the Audiovisual Commission
- the Editorial Commission
- the Interface Commission
- the Medical Anthropology Switzerland (MAS) - Interdisciplinary Commission for Medical Anthropology (ICMA)
- the Museum Commission
- the Scientific Commission (dormant)
- the Anthropology and Education Working Group
- the Ethical and Deontological Think Tank (EDTT)
and long-term cooperation with the Swiss Graduate Program in Anthropology.
