Between 1979 and 1996, the Swiss Anthropological Association published its journal under the name Ethnologica Helvetica. In 1996, the name changed to TSANTSA. It was a name that provoked discussions and controversies from the beginning. Although the editorial team acknowledges the original idea and the deliberately thought-provoking and enigmatic title, over the years the team has come to the conclusion that this name does not transport the core values of anthropological thinking and theory building anymore. Too often, readers and authors raised the question whether this name did not exoticise both the discipline of anthropology and the field of study.
Together with the change of name, a new team of coordinating editors takes over. At the last Annual General Meeting, the SAA elected three new coordinating editors of SJSCA, the journal soon formerly known as TSANTSA. Matthieu Bolay (University of Bern) and Filipe Calvão (Graduate Institute Geneva) have been members of the editorial team for three years. Joana Menet (Université de Neuchâtel) completes the trio of coordinating editors.
In February 2022, the three take over from Laura Affolter, David Loher, and Isabelle Zinn who served as coordinating editors since 2018.
